I’m not going to lie. I’m scared of the Senators.
The Ottawa Senators are fucking scary.
Tonight I am going out to watch the game in a bar with Robin, Amy, and Christina. Of the four of us, I’m the undisputed hockey expert, which is pretty funny when you think about it. Because most of my friends aren’t hockey fans, I usually watch the games alone- but dudes, I can’t deal with the Senators by myself. Too scary. So, I’m going out to a bar where no matter what happens with the game, at least I’ll be surrounded by friends, chicken fingers, and booze.
I have no context in which to place this team. I’m a brand new hockey fan. Tonight’s game feels kind of important, but I know in the great scheme of things, it really isn’t. It’s just hockey.
I only wish the Senators were as inefficient as Stormtroopers. Seriously, they lost a major battle to a bunch of little teddy bears.
Ewoks are fierce, though. Still, I think the Sens would have leveled Endor. They’re an awfully good hockey team. Looks like Buffalo at least held their own to some extent…
(On a totally unrelated note, Kate’s mom came to my concert last night! She even stuck around for the Q&A and asked a cute little question! Kate’s mom rules.)

Wookiees are fierce. Ewoks are not.
The Sens are very, very good and most likely would’ve leveled Endor in no time flat. I wouldn’t really say they vastly outplayed the Sabres so that’s a good thing. But this whole playing well but not winning is getting exhausting
Yay, for Kate’s mom!
Katebits,
I was at the game last night. Tried to get some pictures to send you but my camera is too crappy for that type of event. I really thought you would like the one with the Viagara ad in front of the Buffalo bench (we always say something really mature when that ad goes up like – looks like they’ll be up for the third period!!).
The Sabres really outplayed the Sens but couldn’t win. No friggin’ puck-luck. Hit the post, miss the tap in to an open net, etc. etc. Clearly they need to rearrange the furniture to fix the negative feng shui engery that is affecting the relationship between their sticks and the hockey pucks.
The next matchup should be a doozer.
blitzen, the mere thought of the Sabres sitting behind an ad for Viagara is cheering me up. I’ll take anything I can get in terms of mid-game amusement. At this point, Sabres fans are measuring our hockey joy in the tiniest of increments. :P Thanks for your support! I’m glad you enjoyed the game. Sigh.
Sam, what did my mom ask? That scenario is so funny to me. Did she announce that she’s my mother? Did she demand to know why I’m not in the Minnesota Orchestra? Heh.
Heather, playing well but not winning is getting completely lame. I’m starting to think that they are NOT playing well. In fact, I’m starting to think that the fact that THEY WON’T SHUT UP ABOUT HOW WELL THEY ARE PLAYING AFTER LOSING NIGHT AFTER NIGHT, might be part of the problem. I kind of wish someone would just be all, “WE SUCK”. I am completely horrified that Darcy Regier just did a whole interview with TBN about how the NETS should be bigger. Dude. Can anyone in the organization just SUCK IT UP? Okay, rant over. Tonight they will surely beat the Canadiens. I predict 467-3, Sabres win.

It really is. Terribly so. Because they truly are playing well except for the not finishing part. Which is unfortunately the most important part. I don’t remember the last time I saw a team outplay so many teams in a row while still losing all their games. It’s frustrating and bizarre and they clearly have some kind of mental block somewhere. That said, I think it’s important that they realize they’re working hard and playing well outside the finishing because the last thing they need is to have even less confidence than they already do.
Dude. Can anyone in the organization just SUCK IT UP?
That would be nice. I’d definitely appreciate it.

Actually, I can’t remember specifically what she asked. (It’s been a really long couple of days, and I’m so exhausted that I can barely remember what we played last night.) She did not announce herself, but then, she didn’t need to, since I know who she is. But she did sit right in the front row for the Q&A and smiled comfortingly at me through the whole thing.
I’d like to know why you’re not in the Minnesota Orchestra, myself. Next audition coming roughly a year from now…
Someone definitely needs to suck it up. Derek was killing me last night with his whole “I was aiming at the post to bank it in” thing. Dude! You had an open net! You missed! Just say, “I missed and it sucked!”

What?! He did WHAT?!?! Oh man, he is so lucky I wasn’t watching this game. I would have thrown something all the way from Minnesota to Buffalo just to hit him in the head. That little punk.
Gambler, in his defense, I didn’t actually hear him explain it that way, I just read it somewhere else. But he did have a yawning net in front of him off a beautiful pass from Vanek and he hit the post. All he had to do was tap it in and he hit the post. Gerber was on the other side of the net entirely and he hit! the! post!
He hit the post next to Gerber! Why are you even shooting it to the side of the net WHERE THE GOALIE IS STANDING? Gah, I hate Derek Roy!

Derek, stop trying to steal Yo-Yo’s job! Hee.
But no, really, stop.
I’m sure you realize that you have to watch all their games in the same way. You’ll have to practice with the mute on and only watch in a detached way. Otherwise, they’ll go back to losing.
Just kidding. I’m sure it had nothing to do with it. Or did it? :P
Woops. That comment was intended for the post about watching the game while you practiced. Sheesh.
