The Deadline Looms

I’m not going to lie. I’m going to be a little peeved if Soupy is still a Sabre tomorrow on Tuesday. (It has come to my attention that the trade deadline is on Tuesday, not tomorrow. My bad. It’s this attention to detail that makes mine such a vital voice in the hockey blogosphere.)

I wish him well, and all the happiness in the world. This is his chance to cash in on all his years of hard work, and I do not begrudge him that. I just don’t think the Sabres should be the team to fork over the cash, and if Darcy can grab few tasty prospects by trading Soupy, well, then that’s what I think he should do.

Mmmm…..tasty prospects…

Tasty prospects with a nice side of draft picks. Yum!

(Deadline day is Tuesday so technically Soupy can be a Sabre all day tomorrow. Even he’s traded, he probably will make it through tomorrow. Just so you’re not disappointed!)

Or maybe tomorrow *is* Tuesday since it’s technically Monday as I’m reading this. Whatever. Forget I was here!

And maybe all of Soupy’s sucktitude is all contained inside a raindrop on some other planet… Oof, I need to lay off those brownies Paulie sent.

Katebits, I think all prospects need to be approved by us first….I mean we’ll have to LOOK at these players for a long time, eh?

Did brain-eating zombie Staffy take over TWC?

It’s your attention to detail that makes me laugh out loud in front of a classroom full of kids, actually.

Good luck unloading your soup. I think out Panthers already cooked their goose so we will not be in the market.

I personally I’m just tired of it, and just want him gone, so we don’t have to hear about him anymore.

I am soooooo with you on that one, Jon. If we have to keep talking about Soupy until July 1st I’m going to die.

He damned well better get something more immediate than prospects and draft picks!

For real, I can’t handle another 4 1/2 months of “will they sign Soupy?” talk.

I just watched the “This is My Town” video on the Sabres website and there is one very notable omission. Soupy, who is or, well, used to be considered one of the most popular Sabres among fans, is nowhere to be found in that tribute video. Images of Roysie, Yoyo, Pommerdoodle, Staffy and even Sissy, but no Soupy. I’ve seen that video at games before but never really looked that closely, so I don’t know if the video has always been like this or if its recently been edited. It was originally made in the offseason, and very carefully edited to omit Briere and Drury images.

WGR550– Schopp just slipped up and revealed Bulldog’s real name: Chris. Good thing he goes by the manly Bulldog rather than his wussy given name.
