Two Things

1. My love for Jason Smith is dead. As soon as we traded for Rivet I knew that the Gator dream was over. Whatevs. He would have been fun to have around, but he’s a stinky Senator now. He’s slow and old. That’s just what I heard.

2. (alix, please turn away)

Steve Bernier got signed to an offer sheet.

AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I really hope that back on July 2nd, the Blues initially called Darcy and were like “Yo, we’re thinking about giving Big Bear a 2.5 million dollar offer sheet. What do you think of that?” And then Darcy was all, “Tell you what, let me trade him to the Canucks first. Then you can screw them over, which I know you want to do.” And then the Blues were like, “Word.” And then Darcy and the Blues dude high-fived and cackled evilly.

Who needs a d-man who separated both of his shoulders anyway? We keep Timmy around for that kind of thing.

    :^:::::::::::::::::::::::: Totally, Heather!

I whole-heartedly endorse this idea – teams conspiring to trade a guy to a team they hate just so they wind up screwed by an offer sheet. Someone ought to do this to Edmonton and Anaheim immediately…

i am not usually a commenter, just a silent but avid reader of your wonderful blog.

but i recently came across this article that i thought you might like to see if you have not already..,92689

according to yahoo sports we are in the top 10 least desirable cities for free agents. actually top 5. and apparently jason smith agrees.

but on a lighter note, I also recently came across this hilarious video of derek roy showing us his “crib” mtv style. i apologize if you have already seen it but I wanted to share the awesomeness…

in either case, thank you for writing a fantastic blog, i love reading everyday! :)

What does Greg W. know about desirable cities for NHLers?! Nothing! He knows nothing! *runs away crying*

And Alli, that Derek Roy video is one of my favorite things of all time. Seriously. He’s…..such a child. But what a WONDERFUL glorious child he is! His guitar playing is sublime. :D

Thank you for your wonderful comment, Alli! Sorry it got stuck in the spam filter for the night. Thanks for chiming in!

“a stinky Senator”? (sorry – don’t know how to do the italics stuff).

C’mon, you have to admit the Sens were pretty pathetic last year starting in November. Can’t you drum up a little sympathy for them (ya ya I know where to find sympathy in the dictionary).

We’re stoked about Smith being on board. We now have a young and an old Jason (and both with last names starting with S). Can you imagine two more different guys in an interview? Spezza with his giggles and Smith with his slow growls. This should be fun. Oh – and the hockey too.

  7. 7 Amanda July 9, 2008 at 9:26 am

What is it with the young, giggly guys in hockey? Crosby, Spezza, Pominville, Ovechkin – all gigglers. They sound like little boys, which I suppose some of them are… but still. Man up, dudes.

Who doesn’t want to play in Buffalo, they’ll have a casino right by the arena. Oh wait. Nevermind.

Well, sympathy or no, the Senators are stinky. I just call ’em like I see ’em, blitzen. :D I think Smith was an excellent pick up for you guys.

HAHAHAHA. That’s so sweet you told me to look away. Don’t worry, I found it pretty hilarious as well. Although Big Bear will have to start cranking out some tres adorable interviews to get back in my good graces. It would help if he started saying “I want to be a Canucks for 20 years”

There already IS one, Jon, it just looks like a slot-machine warehouse…

Lowe traded away his two attractive RFA guys, sorry Sam, and I can’t see any team offering Stortini enough to really screw Lowe – he’d just match and laugh because now he’s got the guy under contract.

I suspect in a few years Vanek’s contract will be downright reasonable and Regier will be thanking KLowe.
