Today is A Day Steeped in Magic

I always love it when I happen to notice the clock at 12:34.  When I was a kid someone told me that you could make a wish at 12:34, and it’s a habit I never quite broke.  I don’t often make wishes anymore but when I happen to catch the clock at 12:34 some childlike part of me is always, like, “Oooh, magic” and then I pause for a nanosecond to thank the Digital Clock Gods for their generous and beautiful bounty.  Every once in awhile I still make a wish, but usually it’s something fairly grown-up and lame like, “world peace”.

Imagine my delight when I learned that today will contain the most MAGICAL time possible.  Today, for one second, at 12:34, the time will be 12:34:56 07/08/09.

I know.

Get your wishes ready, because the wish making conditions are going to be unique this afternoon.

Thank you, oh Digital Clock Gods.  For you are mighty and awesome.

    Holy crap that’s awesome.

Technically this happens twice today. There’s 12:34:56 am and 12:34:56 pm. So there’s two magical seconds in the day.

Now that is cool. I’ll have to make a pretty awesome wish at that time.

And these magical seconds happen on my BIRTHDAY! How cool am I!?

Steph, you are unbeLIEVEably cool! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Damn! It was 12:43 when I looked at the clock! I had all the right numbers just in the wrong order. Will I get part of my wish?

You will definitely get part of your wish, if not all. I suspect the Digital Clock Gods have blessed this entire day with good wishing conditions.

Half, eh? I wonder which half of Derek Roy is getting traded :P

(Just kidding. I wouldn’t waste such magical wishing conditions on Roy-Z.)

That is so weird you said that because I swear every day I look at the clock at 12:34am. It’s terrible. And creepy.

Do you wish at 11:11, too?

  11. 12 Katebits July 10, 2009 at 12:52 am

You know, 11:11 has never quite done it for me the way 12:34 does. I like 11:11, and I think it’s a better than average opportunity for good vibes, but I’m not sure it’s wish worthy (for me). :)
