Thankfully the Sabres are just plain old mediocre. The Bills are MUCH better at inflicting this type of injury. (I’m probably asking for trouble by saying that outloud.)

I think 82 games vs. 16 games makes tough hockey losses a little more palatable. The playoffs are a totally different issue, of course. But jeez, yeah, the Bills also just seem particularly skilled at sticking the dagger in and twisting.

The worst part for me is reading how the Tom Brady magic is back when we basically gave that game to them. As much as we all thought the Bills would stink, this one still hurts a lot. Mostly because it’s the freaking Pats.

I have a theory: Either Millard FIllmore or Grover Cleveland must be throwing raucous parties in the afterlife. After decades upon decades of seeing Cleveland passed out on his front lawn in his boxers on Sunday mornings, God finally says, “OK, you know what?” And he gives Buffalo the Bills and Sabres, teams that exist solely to kill the spirit of a sports fan.
